Detroit – More than 2,000 Metro Detroit students got a peek Tuesday at some career possibilities in science, technology, engineering and math while visiting Wayne State University.

The school’s second annual STEM Day hosted sixth through ninth-grade students from districts in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties for hands-on and up-close activities to promote STEM-related fields.

Students watched WSU President Roy Wilson, a glaucoma surgeon and researcher, discuss eye health and diseases, examined models of eye muscles and tried walking on atop a solution of cornstarch and water to demonstrate the properties of liquids and solids.
